  • Breastfeeding takes practice and patience, and Lactation Consultants are an important resource throughout a women’s breastfeeding journey or while inducing lactation. Shine Lactation LLC aims at providing education to pregnant women to prepare them for a successful breastfeeding experience and to current mother’s who are facing challenges with breastfeeding or have questions during their breastfeeding journey.

    An IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant) will assist you in the comfort of your home or telehealth with education, assisting with latch, or plans to help you reach your breastfeeding goals. With proper education during pregnancy and assistance during the valleys of breastfeeding, Shine Lactation LLC hopes with prenatal education and breastfeeding support, more women will have successful breastfeeding journeys.

  • My name is Rachel Madrid and I am the owner of Shine Lactation LLC. I have always had a passion for babies, teaching, and helping others. I graduated from CSU-Pueblo's Nursing program in 2010 and immediately started my dream job helping care for new mothers and their babies.

    While working weekend night shifts within the hospital, I discovered a need for more lactation support. I wanted to learn more in order to help mother's have a successful breastfeeding journey. I got my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2013 and began to challenge myself and care for new moms that were struggling with breastfeeding.

    I love the feeling when all the tips and tricks come together and mom and baby have a successful breastfeeding connection. In September 2022, I began working part time as a lactation consultant at the hospital, and since March 2023, I am a full time lactation coordinator.

    But something was missing. I would ask myself, what happens when these moms and babies go home? Are they ok? Who will help if they start struggling to latch or if the baby loses too much weight? That's how Shine Lactation LLC was born. I wanted mother's to have a local resource that would walk by their side and assist when needed during their breastfeeding journey. I hope I can continue to help families have a successful breastfeeding experience for years to come.
